In the latest episode of DEALS with Gonçalo Almeida, we sat down with JosĂ© and Frederico, founders of Co.op.Homes, to explore a model that’s gaining traction in one of the most strained segments of the market: the middle class.

👉 Housing cooperatives, managed by professional entities like Co.op.Homes, enable 20% to 30% reductions in the final sale price by eliminating developer margins and capital costs.👉 Co.op.Homes already has over 350 housing units in the pipeline, focused on well-located, high-quality, and sustainable construction.👉 The model is starting to gain public sector recognition, with support from the Mais Habitação program, land grants, and credit guarantees — including partnerships with Lisbon City Council.

🔍 The biggest challenge? Public perception. There's still confusion between today’s cooperatives — based on individual ownership and private management — and the collectivist models of the past.

At Harbor Partners, we closely follow these innovative solutions, which provide a strategic response to Portugal’s housing crisis — combining social impact, economic viability, and scalability.
